2025

I will remember this as the year I left social media, or rather, I wasn’t radical enough to delete my accounts, but I now consider them as an archive that I will update from time to time. I no longer have the apps, I don’t miss them; I do miss some events, it’s true, but I’m genuinely much better now. Since stepping away, I’ve picked up projects that had only been sketched out and then left aside. I worked for a long time on a new book, Miniatures after Desire. I’ve read, I’ve tried oil painting simply for the pleasure of doing it.

I am aware that, for the kind of work I do (for the work many of us do) it almost seems necessary to be constantly present. But this isn’t natural for everyone, and it isn’t for me. I would like to work to give shape to visions and sensations, regardless of how many people will see them. This is what this year feels like.
